Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. This page explains which ones we use and how you can change your choices.

The short version: at the moment we use none that need your permission, which is why you have not been asked.

Why there is no cookie banner

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary to make the site work. Those need no consent, and they do not track you, so asking your permission for them would be a pointless interruption.

Plenty of sites show a banner regardless. We would rather not add one more thing to click past — particularly for someone trying to find help in a hurry. If we ever introduce a cookie that does need consent, the banner will appear, and nothing will be set until you have answered.

Essential cookies

These make the site work — for example, keeping a form secure while you complete it. They cannot be switched off, and they do not track you or follow you to other websites.

Analytics cookies

We do not currently use any. If we do, they will help us understand which pages people find useful so we can improve them, they will never include anything you type into a form, and they will only be set if you agree.

Marketing cookies

We do not use any, and we have no plans to. We will not follow you around the internet with our appeals.

Preference cookies

We remember one thing locally, on your own device: whether you have dismissed a site announcement. It is stored in your browser, never sent to us, and it is not used to identify you.

Third parties

We do not currently embed anything from a third party that could set a cookie on our behalf — no maps, no videos, no advertising. If that changes, this page will change with it, first.

Changing your mind

Use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page. Refusing is exactly as easy as accepting, and withdrawing your consent later is exactly as easy as giving it. Any choice you make is recorded against the version of this notice you saw, so if we materially change what we use, we will ask you again rather than assume.
