Significant Impact works with children and with adults at risk. Keeping people safe is not a policy document to us; it is a condition of doing this work at all.
Our commitment
Everyone we work with has the right to be safe, to be treated with dignity, and to be listened to. That applies regardless of who they are or what they believe.
Reporting a concern
If you are worried about a child or an adult at risk in connection with our work, please tell us. You do not need to be certain, and you do not need proof. It is our job to look into it, not yours.
If someone is in immediate danger
Contact the emergency services first. Please do not wait for us.
Confidentiality, and its limits
We handle concerns discreetly. We cannot promise absolute confidentiality: where someone is at risk of serious harm we may have to act, including telling the authorities. We will be honest with you about that rather than promise something we cannot keep.
Safer recruitment
We check people appropriately before placing them in roles that involve contact with children or adults at risk, and we tell candidates in advance when a role requires it.
What we expect of partners
Organisations we work with are expected to meet the same standards. Where they will not, we do not work with them.
