Our work
Community development
Skills, employment readiness, enterprise support, small grants and sustainable livelihoods.
Relief keeps people going. Development changes what is possible. A charity should do both, and be honest about which is which.
This programme is about what happens after the crisis: the skills, work and enterprise that mean someone no longer needs us.
The challenge
Escaping hardship takes more than effort. It takes access — to training, to employers, to a small amount of capital at the right moment, and to someone who will take a chance on you.
People who have been out of work longest face the steepest barriers, and the least help clearing them.
What we do
We invest in skills, employability and enterprise, and we back people with small grants where a modest sum unlocks something much larger.
Success here means people no longer needing us. We regard that as the point, not a loss.
Skills development
Practical training in what employers actually want.
Employment readiness
Applications, interviews, and the confidence that has been eroded.
Enterprise support
Help for people starting something of their own.
Small grants
Modest, targeted funding where it unlocks a livelihood.
Women and youth empowerment
Work with the groups facing the steepest barriers.
Community infrastructure
The shared things a community needs to thrive.
Sustainable livelihoods
Work that lasts beyond our involvement.

What good looks like
These are what we are working towards, not achievements we are claiming. We will report against them once we have verified figures.
- People move into work or self-employment.
- Small enterprises survive their first year.
- Women and young people gain routes that were closed to them.
- Communities become less dependent on charity, including ours.
